I was born in May 19, 1925 in the Kompong Thom province in Cambodia to a well off farmer and landowner. From a young age I was one of the few granted a full education. My first major schooling was when I was ten at a Catholic school in Phnom Penh. When I was 22 I was accepted into the exclusive Lycee Sisowath. I later transferred to EFR in Paris where I was granted a scholarship in radio electricity. It is in Paris where I first began to actively participate in politics. I joined the PCF’s (French Communists) anti-colonialism movement for Vietnam independence, a labor brigade in Yugoslavia, and the Cercle Marxiste, a communist group of young Cambodians. At this time, and since high school my academic records have been low, and so after failing the exam at EFR three consecutive years I was forced to move back to Cambodia. But this only made me look more pure in my cause. I marry my wife, Kieu Ponnary shortly after my return. A few years later that leader of the Cambodian Communist Party was murdered making me the acting leader. Suspicion and knowledge of me forced me to leave to Vietnam where I gained North Vietnam support and created the ideas of the Khmer Rouge. Slowly my movement grew and grew. In 1968 I led a national uprising. By 1970 I had taken control of most of Cambodia. Slowly I began to enact stronger and stranger policies. While taking more and more of Cambodia I would often kill anyone remotely associate to the enemy, and send cities of people out to the farms. I enacted reforms so that all technology was forbidden. My power began to slowly fall apart after 1977. In 1997 I was put under house arrest, and then died (of controversial causes) on April 15, 1998. I was quickly cremated and then my ashes were placed in a can and put next to a village latrine near Anong Veng.o

- EXPLANATION: In the past I have tried to stray away from technology, however I have learned that some exceptions must be made. In order to protect my cause a larger emphasis needs to be place on defenses because of my many enemies.
